Evan Shepherdson

Position: Lab Technician

About:

Evan joined the lab in June 2025 after completing his PhD in Streptomyces biology next door in Dr. Marie Elliot's lab at McMaster University. After completing his degree, he studied yeast molecular biology in the lab of Dr. Mike Tyers at SickKids in Toronto for a year before returning to Hamilton. Outside of the lab, Evan keeps busy with rec volleyball and softball.

Research Interests:

Evan's research interests surround understanding the complex metabolism and development displayed by Streptomyces bacteria. Current work in the lab focuses on developing Streptomyces as a heterologous host for terpene production.
