Alexandra Barkhouse

Position: M.Sc. Candidate

About:

Alex joined the lab in 2022 as an MSc candidate after completing her undergraduate degree in Microbiology & Immunology at Dalhousie University. Alex shifted from her undergraduate research in parasitoid wasps and their prey to antibiotic resistance research with the Wright Lab. Outside of the lab, you can find Alex baking, crocheting, or starring in a local musical.

Research Interests:

Alex is interested in self-resistance mechanisms encoded within biosynthetic gene clusters from antibiotic-producing organisms. Currently, she is investigating a putative resistance cassette for type V glycopeptide-producing soil bacteria.
